Nicholas Latifi got his 2018 campaign back on track with victory in Belgium, beating Britain's Lando Norris with a lights-to-flag victory at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
After finishing in eighth place in Saturday's Spa feature race, Latifi started from pole position alongside Campos Racing's Luca Ghiotto and when the lights went for the race start, narrowly led into Turn 1, maintaining first place from ahead of his Italian rival.
While Latifi led out in front, Ghiotto soon dropped back to third after being passed on lap 5 by Saturday's race winner Nyck de Vries who had successfully battled his way to the podium positions after starting in eighth place.
Starting from fifth place, Norris followed de Vries' rhythm around Spa to snatch third from Ghiotto on lap 7, two laps after clearing the ever-competitive Artem Markelov who struggled for consistent pace in Belgium.
With Latifi checking out at the front of the field, the Canadian driver was soon out of the reach of de Vries, however, with a hard-charging Norris following his fellow McLaren-backed driver in third, the final standing on the podium was far from decided.
As the laps wound down, Norris closed in on the Dutchman, passing the driver using DRS on the final lap of the race to claim second while Alexander Albon followed him through to secure third place, relegating de Vries to fourth.
When the chequered flag waved on lap 18, it was a second Formula 2 victory for Latifi and a first of 2018, with Norris claiming the second step on the podium followed by Albon who finished in third, securing a double podium finish for DAMS.
De Vries held onto fourth place from Markelov who finished in fifth, missing out on a haul of eight points by 0.238s.
Despite suffering in the second half of the sprint, Ghiotto took the chequered flag in sixth and was followed by Mercedes junior George Russell in seventh. Arjun Maini completed the points paying positions in eighth place for Trident.
Sergio Sette Camara narrowly missed out on a points finish, taking the chequered flag in ninth place in the second Carlin and was followed by Jack Aitken who completed the top 10 for ART Grand Prix.
By finishing in second place at Spa, Norris successfully closed in on Russell in the Drivers' Championship, with only five points separating the pair with three rounds remaining.
