Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, sees Ferrari as his teams biggest threat to losing the title battle.
This comes despite their nearest competitor being McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, just five points behind in second. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso holds third after his impressive win in Monza a fortnight ago.
This recent surge in pace from the Scuderia is what worries Horner.
“I see Ferrari as our biggest threat to be honest,” he told reporters in Singapore on Thursday. “They have a quick car and arguably they have been the closest to us since halfway through the year.
“They had a bit of bad luck around Valencia and Silverstone, but in Hockenheim they were quick, and they were closest to us in Budapest. Spa didn’t go their way but they were quick again in Monza, so arguably Ferrari is the biggest challenge.”
In terms of the constructors title, Horner was less worried about the threat posed by Ferrari, currently third with a 60 point deficit to leaders, Red Bull – partly down to Felipe Massa’s poor start.
“They are playing a slightly different game but ultimately we have to beat everybody,” he added, “the constructors championship is important to us and I would rather have two guys competing for the championship than one.”
