Moto3 World Championship points leader Jorge Martin has been declared fit to ride in this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, one week after breaking his left wrist in an FP1 crash at Brno.

Martin, who led the lightweight class by seven points coming to the Czech Republic, crashed heavily towards the end of FP1 last Friday.

The Spaniard was diagnosed with a fracture on the radius of his left wrist, and was flown to Barcelona for surgery on the Friday night.

Missing the Brno race, his Gresini team confirmed he would travel to Spielberg in an attempt to ride pending assessment from MotoGP doctors.

Following checks on his wrist on Thursday, it was confirmed that Martin had been passed fit, and will take to the Red Bull Ring for practice on Friday morning.

A difficult race at Brno for his main championship rival Marco Bezzecchi, in which he was sixth, means Martin only trails the Prustel GP rider by just three points heading to Austria.

Gresini teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio secured his maiden Moto3 win, putting him back into the title picture, transforming a 39-point deficit to a 17-point disadvantage in third in the standings.

Second for EG 0,0 Honda's Aron Canet at Brno means his 38-point gap to the standings lead closed to just 21 points.

Martin will step up to the Moto2 class next year with the Ajo KTM squad, replacing the Tech3 MotoGP-bound Miguel Oliveira, who now lead the intermediate class table by two points to future Pramac Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia.
