Another Ford team is looking to find victory circle this weekend at Lime Rock Park, as the #66 of Dirk Mueller tops the first practice session for the Northeast Grand Prix with a time of 50.924.
Two-time winning teammates in the #67 Ford piloted by Ryan Briscoe sat P3, behind the Porsche of Nick Tandy. Tandy is coming off of a record setting qualifying run at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, one that the team was unable to translate into a win. As they continue to put pressure on the Fords [LINK], they split them up in the first session.
Jan Magnussen and Oliver Gavin had a slow start to the weekend in the dual Corvettes, running just under a second slower than the Fords at the top of the pack. Magnussen in particular is within the best striking distance of the top of the championship, and will look to find better pace throughout the day’s sessions.
Kyle Marcelli continues a strong season, topping the first session with a time of 52.303. The pace of the 3GT Racing team has been consistently strong in recent entries, and the team are looking for another breakthrough victory this season.
Alvaro Parente sits P2 as car-mate Katherine Legge trails championship leaders Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers by only three points. The Paul Miller Racing #48 was a few spots back in P5, but have a knack for climbing their way up the session times.
