Former Formula 1 engineer Jakob Andreasen has been appointed as Dragon Racing's chief Formula E race engineer.

Andreason worked in Formula 1 for a total of 17 years, spending time at Force India, Williams and McLaren.

At Formula E's season-closing New York City E-Prix, Andreason worked as Jose Maria Lopez's lead race engineer and for next season will supervise Dragon Racing's engineering operations.

"I am thrilled to be back at the track working with Jay [Penske] and the entire Dragon team in Formula E," he said.

"Dragon is exactly what I have been looking for in both a team and a business. The entire operation is a very close knit, coherent unit.

"This family atmosphere allows us to be extremely effective and agile in both communication and execution.

"I believe this will be one of our major advantages as the series keeps growing and the level of competition keeps rising.

"We have a lot of work to do to achieve our goals, but for me, this work is the good stuff. I could not be more excited about the championship.

"Formula E is a rapidly growing, highly relevant sport with an extremely well defined identity.

"I am hugely impressed with all aspects of the championship, from the locations, to accessibility for fans, to the level of competition with great, close racing and some of the most elite teams and drivers in any paddock.

"It is brave, disruptive and quietly confident. I like that."

In the double-header New York City E-Prix, both Jerome d'Ambrosio and Lopez missed out on a points finish while the American outfit's season ended with a double DNF – its first since the 2017 Monaco E-Prix.

With a total of 41 points, Dragon finished in ninth in the Teams' Standings in Season Four with a best finish of third place at the inaugural Zurich E-Prix.
