The Avintia Academy Moto3 team has confirmed Vicente Perez will be the permanent replacement for Livio Loi from this weekend's German Grand Prix onwards.
The Avintia team announced last week that it had reached a mutual agreement with Belgian rider Loi to part ways, following a run of disappointing results in the first eight races of the 2018 campaign.
Perez, who has made three race starts as a wildcard in the Moto3 class, currently competes for the Avintia team in the CEV Repsol Moto3 series, where he lies 10th in the standings having amassed one podium finish at the Estoril round.
“I’m very happy, because riding in the Moto3 World Championship was my childhood dream,” Perez said.
“I hope to be competitive in Germany. I will go step by step, learning the circuit and building my pace and confidence on every exit.
“I know the bike and the team very well, so we will work hard to achieve the best results possible. I want to thank Blumaq, my manager Tomas Llopis and Raul Romero [Avintia team boss] for this great opportunity.”
Perez runs the number 63 in CEV, but will use 77 for his step over to the world championship in tribute to teammate Andrea Perez, who was killed following a crash during the Barcelona CEV races last month.
Gresini's Jorge Martin comes into this weekend's German Grand Prix leading the standings by two points from Prustel GP's Marco Bezzecchi, after taking victory last time out at Assen while Bezzecchi crashed on the final lap.
