Sylvain Filippi has been appointed as the managing director of DS Virgin Racing, a position that he will assume with immediate effect before Formula E's Season Four finale in New York next weekend.
Filippi, 38, was appointed as the British marque's Chief Operations Officer following the departure of team principal Alex Tai who left the team after the Berlin E-Prix to "focus on his other business activities".
Having been part of DS Virgin Racing since the inception of the Formula E in 2014, Filippi has been an integral part of the outfit which is one of the most successful teams in the all-electric single seater series with seven wins and a further 11 podium finishes in four seasons.
"I’m very grateful for this opportunity and thank the team’s board and shareholders for their support and trust in me," said Filippi following his appointment.
"The current season may be drawing to a close, but we have a lot of exciting work ahead of us to prepare for Formula E’s important fifth season, and the whole team together with its partners and new majority shareholder Envision are very much looking forward to this.”
As Formula E's present 2017/18 campaign begins to wind down, DS Virgin Racing currently lie in third place in the Teams' Championship with 157 points, 62 adrift of independent quad Techeetah who currently lead while Sam Bird still has a mathematical chance of clinching the Drivers' Championship in New York, 23 points adrift of Jean-Eric Vergne with 58 points still on offer this season.
Formula E's season-closing New York City E-Prix will take place on July 14 and 15.
