Romain Dumas, hot off of a record shattering Pikes Peak performance, tops Friday practice sessions for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen in Practice 2.

Dumas’ 1:33.481 not only improved on the CORE autosport ORECA LMP2’s performance in Practice 1, but bested the 2017 pole time of 1:34.405 set by the Tequila Patron ESM Nissan DPi. The lap time is made all the more impressive by the LMP2 struggles seen since the introduction of the DPi.

Wayne Taylor Racing held P2 across both sessions, with Renger van der Zande taking the reins from teammate Jordan Taylor. LMP2 teams continued to show an improved pace with the United Autosports Ligier LMP2 of Bruno Senna posting the fourth fastest lap of the session.

The top Team Penske Acura DPi dropped from P1 to P3 with Juan Pablo Montoya in the #6, but improved slightly from P6 to P5 in the #7 piloted by Ricky Taylor.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing swept the top two spots in both Friday practice sessions, as Richard Westbrook and Dirk Mueller repeated defended their P1 and P2 times. They carry heavy favouritism into Saturday’s qualifying, scoring ahead of both Porches and both Corvettes.

19-year old Sheldon van der Linde topped GTD Practice 2 in the Montaplast by Land-Motorsport Audi. Kyle Marcelli carried the torch for 3GT Racing Lexus team at P2 while teammate and Practice 1 leader Jack Hawksworth registered the 15th fastest time. Points leading Paul Miller Racing continued to struggle, with Bryan Sellers posting the 14th fastest lap of the session.

All eyes will be on the quick LMP2 programs heading into Saturday’s qualifying session for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. First, the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship have one last practice session, Saturday at 8:00 a.m. ET.
