Nico and Keke Rosberg to drive title-winning cars around Monaco

F1 World Champion father and son Keke and Nico Rosberg will drive their respective title-winning cars around the streets of Monte Carlo this weekend.

After the first practice session has finished, both drivers will make their way onto the circuit; Keke will take charge of his 1982 Williams FW08 while Nico will once again jump into his 2016 Mercedes W07.

Keke left F1 after the 1986 season and eventually retired from racing in 1995 after a stint in the DTM series, eventually going on to create his own race team.

In 2013 Nico won the event 30 years after his father had done so, and he also went on to achieve two further victories around the principality in 2014 and 2015.

This is the only time a father and son in Formula 1 history have won the same event. Damon Hill came close in 1996 before the engine in his Williams-Renault expired in the tunnel. Graham Hill famously won the event five times during his career.

In a video he posted on Twitter, Nico stated the pair would be 'writing history'. He said: "On Thursday lunchtime I’m going to be driving with my dad.

"We’re both going to be getting into our World Championship winning Formula 1 cars, my dad in his 1982 car me in my 2016 car.

"So we’re going to be bombing it around Monaco together for a couple of laps. I think it’s going to be good fun, I’m really looking forward to it."

This will be the second successive week for Nico doing demonstration runs after giving the Formula E Gen2 car its public debut in Berlin last week.
