ART Grand Prix's Nikita Mazepin claimed victory on his GP3 Series debut at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, dominating the opening race in a 1-2-3 for the team.
The Force India F1 tester took the lead off the line, profiting from a tardy getaway by polesitter Leonardo Pulcini, and kept team-mate Anthoine Hubert at bay on the run to Turn 1.
Mazepin was left unchallenged for the race win while fellow ART team-mates Hubert and Ferrari-backed Callum Ilott battled throughout for the remaining places on the podium.
Hubert and Ilott swapped places before the Frenchman ultimately edged clear, by which time Mazepin had built an insurmountable lead up front.
After his poor start Pulcini was left as easy prey for the ART drivers and eventually ended his race in fourth place; Dorian Boccolacci carried good pace in the early part of the race to give MP Motorsport fifth position in its first race in the category.
David Beckmann brought home his Jenzer Motorsport car home to a sixth-placed finish on his debut, while Ferrari academy driver Giuliano Alesi followed him home in seventh.
Juan Manuel Correa made up places throughout the race to bring the second Jenzer home to eighth place, followed by the Trident of Pedro Piquet in ninth and Diego Menchaca to round out the top 10.
The fourth ART driver, Jake Hughes, started from 11th place and made early gains, but a clash with Alessio Lorandi hurt his prospects and he trailed home in 13th spot.
