The #6 Porsche 963 GTP car have lost their IMSA podium at Indianapolis after a post-technical inspection penalty as had the #40 Acura.

The Porsche Penske team lost their podium finish at the Battle on the Bricks, the penultimate round of the 2024 IMSA SportsCar Championship.

Additionally, the #40 Acura entrant of Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti lost their P5 finish due to failing a post-race inspection.

Seven GTP cars were impounded post-race for an in-depth examination.

By late Monday 23 September, the #24 BMW M Hybrid V8, #6 Porsche, #85 Porsche, #40 Acura, #5 Porsche, #01 Cadillac V-Series.R and #63 Lamborghini SC63 were all inspected.

IMSA found that the #6 Porsche Penske entrant featured modifications to its wiring harness/loom that were deemed outside of homologation.

As a result, the #6 Porsche has been pushed to 10th in-class, 53rd overall after initially taking third place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course event.

Porsche received a financial penalty of $10,000 for the infringement, as the #6 duo of Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy retain their second place in the standings.

This has promoted the #85 JDC Miller MotorSports Porsche crew of Phil Hanson, Richard Westbrook and Tijmen van der Helm onto the podium.

For the red #40 Acura, it featured modified components in its brake ducting system outside of homologation.

Consequently, the #40 has moved to 11th in-class in the final GTP race order – last place – and Acura has incurred a $10,000 penalty.

Proton Competition’s #5 Porsche lineup of Alessio Picariello, Bent Viscaal and Gianmaria Bruni have been promoted into fifth instead.
