Niccolo Antonelli dipped underneath the Moto3 race lap record to top the Friday timesheets at Jerez ahead of championship leade Jorge Martin.

Gresini's Fabio Di Giannantonio topped the opening lightweight class session of the weekend with a 1:47.159s, the Italian deposing Philipp Oettl in the closing stages by over half a second.

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda's Aron Canet got to just over three tenths away from Di Giannantonio on his final attempt, while the FP1 pacesetter's teammate Jorge Martin headed Marcos Ramirez to complete the top five.

Marco Bezzecchi – who crashed at Turn 2 in FP1 – opened up the afternoon session with a benchmark of 1:48.629s, with Tony Arbolino taking over with a 1:47.694s nine minutes into FP2.

Arbolino's time stood until the final quarter of the session, when FP1's fastest man Di Giannatonio took over top spot with a 1:47.300, which he improved on his follow-up tour to a 1:37.176s.

Struggling for much of FP2 under braking, Martin returned to the circuit in the closing stages and took over from his Gresini stablemate at the front of the field with a 1:47.074s.

With four minutes to go, Antonelli eased four tenths clear of the rest with a 1:46.630s, and remained unchallenged through to the chequered flag.

Martin held onto second on the combined timesheets, while Di Giannantonio completed the top three by virtue of his best lap from the first 40-minute outing this morning.

Leopard's Enea Bastianini slotted into fourth overall, edging Canet back to fifth, with Kaito Toba an impressive sixth on the Team Asia Honda.

Marcos Ramirez was seventh after FP2, while Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Arbolino and John McPhee rounded out the top 10.
