Rosenqvist: ‘A lot of positives’ despite Rome retirement

Felix Rosenqvist says he and Mahindra were able to take "a lot of positives" from its performance in Rome, despite his Formula E title prospects taking a substantial blow through another retirement.

Rosenqvist dominated qualifying around the streets of Rome and comfortably controlled the race, as he pulled clear of nearest rival Sam Bird.

However, a suspension failure on his second car halted his progress and he was forced to retire, handing the victory to Bird.

“Another very tough one to take for everyone. I feel bad for the boys," said Rosenqvist post-race.

"I’m super impressed by the team because it’s been a hectic weekend and everyone delivered in every session.

"Something that we couldn’t predict happened; we had a breakage with no connection to any specific incident.

"I always have a smile on my face when I know I’ve given all I can and that the team was flawless. We had crazy pace and we led every lap until we broke down.

"There are still a lot of positives to take [away]," he added.

Rosenqvist's retirement in Rome put another dent in his title ambitions, having also missed out on a big score when he retired earlier in the season in Mexico.

A recent drought in points for Rosenqvist has dropped him to third place in the Drivers' Championship, 37 points adrift of Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne, with five races remaining this season.

In the Teams' Championship, the story is similar for Mahindra Racing, with the Indian manufacturer slipping to third in the standings.
