AO Racing has named their IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship driver lineup for the final two races, with Michael Christensen and Laurin Heinrich at Indianapolis, plus Julien Andlauer at Road Atlanta.

The GTD-Pro championship leaders will return to the ‘Rexy’ dinosaur livery on their #77 Porsche 911 GT3.R, after running the pink ‘Roxy’ look for the IMSA rounds at VIRginia International Raceway and Road America.

Piloting ‘Roxy’ at the six-hour Battle on the Bricks event, the 10th round and penultimate round on the 2024 schedule, will be remaining full-time driver Heinrich and Endurance Cup driver Christensen.

At Road Atlanta, hosting the 27th running of the 10-hour Petit Le Mans season finale, Andlauer will join the pair in the #77 having replaced Seb Priaulx when the Briton departed, followed by another Porsche driver Klaus Bachler.

Team principal Gunnar Jeannette said: “Roxy did a great job for us in the last two races, but Rexy is excited to be back for the remainder of the season.

“Rexy is rested and ready for this last push. Our team is strong in the endurance races, and we feel good about our chances of fighting for the title.

“Both Michael [Christensen] and Julien [Andlauer] have been great additions to our lineup, and we’re excited to have them in for the end.”

Christensen already participated in two races at the beginning of the season within his role as Endurance Cup driver, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

“I’m looking very much forward to get back with AO Racing and Rexy,” said Christensen.

“The team has performed very well over the season and is in a great position leading the championship.

“I’ll do my very best to support and strengthen the position further into the last round at Petit Le Mans.”

Heart of Racing closed the gap to AO Racing’s lead in the championship down from 76 points to just 16 after they scored a podium at VIR, compared to seventh place by AO Racing.

As a result, the GTD Pro title fight is tight between the two teams and their results at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course (22 September) will have a crucial effect on what happens to the points margin.
