The Yamaha MotoGP outfit has officially announced Paolo Pavesio as its new Managing Director, effective January 1st, 2025.
Pavesio brings a wealth of internal experience to the MotoGP project, having held positions with Yamaha Motor Europe’s Directors board, specialising in Marketing and Motorsport.
He played a pivotal role in reshaping Yamaha’s Motorsport Division, securing World Championships in World Superbikes, the Motorcross World Championship and the Endurance World Championship.
His 11-year stint in this role saw him earn this latest promotion, replacing the departing Lin Jarvis, who has occupied the role for 26 years.
Jarvis’ contribution to Yamaha has seen the Japanese marque achieve great success. In the MotoGP era, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Fabio Quartararo collectively won eight Riders’ championships between them from 2004-2021.
Takahiro Sumi, the General Manager of its Motorsports Development Division, stated: “Both personally and on behalf of Yamaha, I would like to thank Lin for his dedication and achievements over the past 26 years.
“His commitment, diligence, and leadership have been instrumental in Yamaha’s success in MotoGP, and I am happy that we will still have access to his knowledge and experience going forward.
“Lin will be succeeded as Managing Director by Paolo Pavesio, who brings to the role a wealth of experience gained at Yamaha Motor Europe where, as Marketing & Motorsport Director, he guided Yamaha teams to World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
“I look forward to welcoming Paolo to Yamaha Motor Racing in January and, under his leadership, I am confident that Yamaha can secure the future success in MotoGP that we are all striving for.”
From 2025, Jarvis will continue with the manufacturer as a Senior Adviser, staying forever loyal to the manufacturer.
