Dani Pedrosa has undergone surgery on the right wrist he injured in a crash at the start of the Argentina Grand Prix, and is in doubt for MotoGP's Texas outing next weekend.
The Honda rider suffered a highside when he accelerated on a damp patch at Turn 13 having been forced wide by a charging Johann Zarco on the opening lap of last weekend's race at Termas de Rio Hondo.
Pedrosa complained afterwards of pain in his right wrist, with checks in Barcelona revealing a fracture to the radius bone.
The fracture was fixed with a titanium screw in an operation carried out by renowned rider surgeon Dr Xavier Mir and his team at the Catalan Institute of Traumatology and Sports Medicine at the Dexeus Hospital.
According to a statement from Honda, the results from the operation were “satisfactory”, and will undergo further checks in 48 hours to determine when rehabilitation can begin.
The statement made no mention of his plans for the Americas Grand Prix, only that a decision on his participation will be made following the next chek-up on his condition.
Should Pedrosa be deemed unfit to ride, Honda could call up former Moto2 champion and MotoGP podium finisher Stefan Bradl, who is HRC's official test rider.
Pedrosa currently sits 12th in the championship standings on nine points, after a tyre problem in Qatar saw him drop from the podium battle to seventh, while he scored no points in Argentina.
