Luca Filippi has been handed a three-place grid penalty for the Punta del Este ePrix in Uruguay.
Filippi, 32, joined Formula E at the start of the 2017/18 season and scored points on his debut at the first round of the Hong Kong ePrix in December. Since then, however, the Italian racer has struggled and sits at the bottom of the Drivers' Championship with only one point to his name for NIO.
So far this weekend in Uruguay, Filippi has struggled, propping up the timesheets in FP1 while setting the 13th fastest time in second practice.
Filippi's grid demotion comes as a result of the driver speeding under a red flag that was caused by Andretti's Tom Blomqvist in FP2 and will demote the driver to 19th on the grid after qualifying in 15th, with Venturi Formula E's Edoardo Mortara also having a penalty which will see him start behind Filippi on the grid.
On the other side of the NIO Formula E garage, Filippi's teammate, Oliver Turvey, secured his maiden podium at the Mexico City ePrix two weeks ago and sits in ninth in the standings with 26 points.
