The teams for the maiden season of the MotoE World Cup, which will take place next year, have been officially confirmed.

Dorna's all-electric support series was launched in February, and will form part of the support bill at five as-yet-unconfirmed European MotoGP races.

All seven of the independent teams currently competing in the premier class – Tech3, Marc VDS, Pramac, Nieto, Avintia, Gresini and LCR – will field two Energica machines, while Moto2 outfits Sky VR46, Pons and Intact GP will run one bike each.

The SIC58 Squadra Corse Moto3 team will also be present on the grid in 2019, the Italian squad fielding just one bike as well.

MotoE director Nicolas Goubert – who stepped down from his role as Michelin boss at the end of last season – stated: “We had the first meeting with all the teams who will be competing next year in MotoE.

“There will be 11 teams running 18 bikes. All the bikes will be Energica bikes, the same, so it will be a Cup.

“We will have five rounds next year in Europe. We haven't yet decided on the tracks we'll be going to, but as I said it was a kick-off meeting, so all things have to be put in place.

“Basically, it starts now. It was important to see all the teams, because now they have enough information to get organised, to start looking at the riders they'll have and look at the crew they'll have.”

The Energica bike will be run on track in a demonstration at each round of the 2018 season, with different riders showing off the machine. Former 500cc grand prix winner and current world feed pitlane reporter Simon Crafar will do the honours in Qatar.
