The FIM and Dorna Sports have confirmed that Misano will host two MotoGP races in September amid the cancellation of the inaugural Kazakhstan Grand Prix.

The announcement on Monday signified the cancellation of a third Grand Prix of 2024, following the abandonment of the Argentine and Indian race weekends.

The Kazakhstan Grand Prix was supposed to take place in May this season following its 2023 cancellation but was postponed due to severe flooding in the area.

The new dates were pushed back to replace the Indian Grand Prix in September, but issues such as road access, timekeeping and internet connection were touted.

The Misano International Circuit will host two races on the 6-8 and 20-22 September before the flyaway period commences.

Qatar was considered a suitable replacement, but due to failing to agree terms with the Losail track owners and the country’s extreme heat, MotoGP chose to remain in Europe.

Dorna chose to keep the MotoGP paddock in Misano instead of a potential race in Valencia or Brno.
