The pieces are falling into place for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500. Dreyer & Reinbold, a specialist outfit set to run two cars this year at the Brickyard, has confirmed that 2013 Indy Lights champion Sage Karam will be back for his fifth assault at IndyCar’s crown jewel.

Upon confirmation of the deal, Karam took to Twitter to share his joy to be back for another crack at the 500. "Really humbled and blessed for this opportunity. Let’s get to work!, said the driver.

Karam made his Indy debut in 2014, when he captured a 9th place finish in the 500 and earned the "Hard Charger" Award for being the car with the lowest starting position to lead at least one lap of green flag racing.

He signed for Chip Ganassi Racing  in 2015 with two top 5 finishes to his name. For the past two seasons, the Nazareth, Pennsylvania native has run an Indy-only with Dreyer & Reinbold. Last year, he completed a full campaign at the wheel of a GT3 Lexus in the Weathertech SportsCar Championship.

Team boss Dennis Reinbold had previously stated that they would enter the Indy 500 "with two potential winners". To that effect, the team's second seat is strongly rumoured to land in J.R. Hildebrand’s hands. After racing full-time for Ed Carpenter Racing in 2017, the Californian lost his seat to Spencer Pigot this season.
