Hamilton over the disappointment of Hungary

Lewis Hamilton says he is over the disappointment of his second retirement of the season despite loosing his championship lead in the process.

The McLaren driver reported a vibration in his front-left brake whilst he was on his way to the grid for Sunday’s grand prix, but a quick check-over revealed nothing.

In fact, the vibration was coming from his gearbox which failed on lap 24 of the 70 lap race, during which Hamilton held fourth behind Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.

The Brit says he mustn’t dwell on the missed opportunity to maintain his championship lead into the four week break during which teams are forced to shut their factory doors for two.

“It was a disappointment, yes, but you have to put it behind you,” he said. “And you should never think too hard about the ‘what ifs’ or the missed opportunities.

“It happened, and we move on – it’s that simple.”

Lewis is now looking to the next couple of races where McLaren will be pushing through some new developments in the hope of catching the runaway Red Bull’s.

“We have some very promising developments in the pipeline, and we’re making progress in lots of other areas, too.

“I can’t wait for Spa – I wish it was next week!”
