Joey Mawson will switch to GP3 for 2018 after securing a deal to race for Arden.

Mawson, the 2016 ADAC Formula 4 Champion, finished 13th in last year’s European Formula 3 Championship, and will now make the move across to GP3.

The 21-year-old joins fellow newcomer Gabriel Aubry and Julien Falchero at Arden.

“I’m very excited to be joining Arden for the 2018 GP3 season” he said.

“To be able to race on the same schedule as Formula 1 is something that I’m thoroughly looking forward to,” said Mawson.

“I’m focused on putting everything that I learnt into practice to assist me in gaining more success in 2018.”

This week’s flurry of announcements leaves just two seats yet to be filled, ahead of Wednesday’s opening day of pre-season testing at Paul Ricard.

Trident, which operates a four-car team, will run Pedro Piquet alongside Giuliano Alesi, Ryan Tveter and Alessio Lorandi.

Series newcomer MP Motorsport will hand a test opportunity to Leonard Hoogenboom, having already recruited Dorian Boccolacci and Niko Kari for the season.
