Ferrari-backed Giuliano Alesi will remain with Trident for a third GP3 campaign in 2018.
The Frenchman, son of 1995 Canadian Grand Prix victor Jean, stepped straight from French F4 to GP3 for 2016, but struggled to a low-key 22nd overall, taking just a solitary point.
Alesi made gains through 2017 and took fifth in the standings, with three reversed-grid wins, to emerge as the highest non-ART driver in the overall classification.
"I am extremely happy to remain on board with Trident for the 2018 GP3 Series," he said.
"I worked so hard with the team and the Ferrari Driver Academy in the last few seasons. My goal is now to reward them with some absolutely excellent results. I feel ready for a high-profile season."
Alesi is the first confirmed driver for Trident's four-car team this season.
