Sebastien Buemi believes that he could have put in a stronger performance at last weekend's Santiago ePrix in Chile for Renault e.dams.
Buemi started the race on the front row of the grid from second place alongside race winner Jean-Eric Vergne but had a poor start when the lights went out, dropping back to fourth place after being overtaken by Nelson Piquet Jr and Andre Lotterer into Turn 1.
For the majority of the race, Buemi was fourth in the running order before overtaking Piquet for third place on lap 28 to move into the podium positions – a position that he ultimately held onto by holding off a hard-charging Felix Rosenqvist.
“First of all, I have to say congratulations to Techeetah as they are the customer team and they were faster than us today – well done to them, they’ve done a great job," said Buemi.
"For us, I think we could’ve done a bit better, but I lost two places at the start, and then I had massive wheel-spin.
"At the pit stops I thought I could’ve overtaken the Jaguar, but we were scared of an unsafe release, so we stayed in the garage to avoid that," he added.
"Towards the end it was difficult because I was very quick, but Rosenqvist tried to overtake me – but not today, which was important!"
Buemi's third place in Santiago marked his second consecutive podium after finishing in second place in Marrakesh. A tough opening two rounds in Hong Kong saw the Season Two champion struggling in the lower half of the standings with only one point although the Swiss driver's return to form has propelled him to fourth in the Drivers' Championship, 34 points adrift of Vergne who currently leads.
