The Silverstone circuit, host of the British Grand Prix on both two and four wheels, is currently undertaking resurfacing works across the entire 3.661-mile circuit to reduce the amount of bumps.
MotoGP riders have frequently complained about the surface, particularly the notoriously bumpy final sector between the Stowe and Club corners.
Silverstone had therefore initially planned to resurface this sector alone, but following further consideration and the age of the asphalt in other areas of the track, it was decided that the entire circuit will be resurfaced, with completion expected by the end of February.
The Northamptonshire circuit will therefore have a fresh surface in time for both the 2018 Formula 1 and MotoGP grands prix – the former of which could be the penultimate race at the circuit following Silverstone's decision to pull out of hosting F1 from 2019.
MotoGP meanwhile announced a recent three-year contract extension through 2020.
