Sebastien Buemi extended his points tally in qualifying by securing pole position for the Marrakesh ePrix.

Buemi performed his initial qualifying run in group two, setting a lap time that was quick enough to secure him a place in the Super Pole shootout alongside Sam Bird, Jose Maria Lopez, Felix Rosenqvist, and his long-term rival, Lucas di Grassi.

The Swiss driver set a best time of a 1:20.355, and when Lopez, di Grassi and Rosenqvist all made mistakes on their final runs of the session, it became apparent that Buemi would start on pole, 0.260 seconds clear of Bird who was his nearest challenger.

After a bad middle sector which ruined his lap, Rosenqvist secured third on the grid by salvaging what was left of his qualifying in the final sector, putting himself ahead of Lopez and di Grassi on the starting grid who line up in fourth and fifth.

Video: Watch qualifying highlights from the Marrakesh ePrix

DS Virgin Racing's Alex Lynn narrowly missed out on a Super Pole appearance and will start the Marrakesh ePrix in sixth place ahead of Nelson Piquet Jr who qualified in seventh.

Daniel Abt had a disappointing day and only qualified in eighth place for Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler after being caught out in his qualifying group stage when Antonio Felix da Costa crashed out of the session for Andretti Formula E.

Mitch Evans qualified in ninth place in the second Jaguar and starts ahead of NIO's Oliver Turvey who lines up in tenth after also being caught out by da Costa's trip into the barriers.

Outside of the top ten, Jean-Eric Vergne lines up in 13th place after a scruffy qualifying session while Mahindra's Nick Heidfeld only managed 18th after crashing during his final run of the session which caught out Edoardo Mortara who was slowest of the 20 runners.
