Porsche factory LMP1 drivers Nick Tandy (left) and Earl Bamber will return to their GT racing roots as part of the manufacturer's Petit Le Mans driver lineup.

The pair will join Porsche's full-season GTLM drivers for the final round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship at Road Atlanta next month.

Tandy, who won the 10-hour event overall in 2015 on the back of his Le Mans triumph with Bamber and Nico Hulkenberg, will share a 911 RSR with Patrick Pilet and Dirk Werner.

Current World Endurance Championship points leader Bamber, meanwhile, is listed alongside Gianmaria Bruni and Laurens Vanthoor in the sister car.

The New Zealander completed a full season with the Porsche GT squad last year in a different car to Tandy, finishing fourth in the IMSA standings.

Petit Le Mans will mark the first outing for both drivers in the new 911 RSR, which made its competition debut at the start of 2017.

“We’re delighted to welcome two good old acquaintances to the Porsche GT Team for this classic,” said Porsche Motorsport vice-president Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser.

“They won Le Mans outright and are very excited to be racing the new 911 RSR for the first time, particularly after playing a key role in its development."

"We couldn’t wish for better support in the fight for the prestigious North American Endurance Cup, which will be decided at Petit Le Mans.”

With two rounds remaining, Pilet and Werner currently lead the North American Endurance Cup by two points over Ford drivers Joey Hand and Dirk Muller.

The duo also sit fifth in the IMSA GTLM class standings, one point ahead of Vanthoor in sixth.
