Formula 1's managing director of motorsports, Ross Brawn, says there is a "lot of work going on" to keep Honda in the sport, amid reports McLaren will dump the Japanese manufacturer next week.
McLaren is seeking a divorce so it can jump to rival manufacturer Renault following three years of disappointing results with Honda, but that deal requires Toro Rosso to agree to a switch as Renault is unable to supply more than three teams.
Toro Rosso has yet to agree to a deal and has set a deadline of Sunday evening for Honda to make an offer, but reports suggest McLaren will ditch Honda regardless of the outcome.
Brawn met with representatives from McLaren, Toro Rosso, Honda and Renault this weekend to discuss the matter and says work is going on behind the scenes to ensure Honda isn't left out in the cold.
"Can we find a solution to keep Honda in the sport and giving McLaren more opportunity?" Brawn questioned on Saturday.
"There's a lot of discussion going on, I'm not going to comment any further than that, but there is a lot of work going on to try and find a solution for everyone.
"We want to keep Honda in the sport. They have had a pretty challenging time, but they are a great company, have a great history and we want to keep them in the sport. We're trying to find solutions to that."
