Michael Schumacher's son, Mick, will mark the 25th anniversary of his father's maiden Formula 1 victory by driving a Benetton B194 ahead of Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix this weekend.

Schumacher, the sport's most successful driver with seven drivers' titles to his name, claimed his first F1 victory at the 1992 Belgian Grand Prix behind the wheel of a Benetton B192 in 1992, in what was the German's first full season – the occasion will also mark 26 years since his first race, having made his debut a year before at the same venue.

Since then, Schumacher has gone on to claim 91 victories in an F1 career spanning 21 years, but in December 2013 he suffered a serious head injury following a skiing accident and hasn't been seen publicly since.

Schumacher's long-time manager, Sabine Kehm, confirmed to Reuters that the tribute would go ahead on Sunday morning prior to the race, with Mick completing laps behind the wheel of the B194 in which Schumacher claimed eight victories and his first title – his B192 wasn't available due to mechanical and insurance issues.

Mick is currently racing in the European Formula 3 series and is placed 11th.

This weekend's Belgian GP could see one of Schumacher's records matched if Lewis Hamilton can secure pole position for the race, which would give each driver 68 pole positions apiece.
