Lewis Hamilton has somewhat resigned himself to a podium finish rather than a victory in Hungary on Sunday, claiming it will be "an almost impossible task" to overtake the Ferraris.
The Briton will start fourth behind the two Ferraris and team-mate Valtteri Bottas after a difficult qualifying session in which Hamilton struggled with vibrations, despite looking like he had the pace for pole during Q2.
Hamilton believes his only chance of winning is if Mercedes can make some clever strategy calls, rather than relying solely on pace alone.
"You can't overtake here," said the 32-year-old. "It's most likely going to be a train unless we can do something with strategy.
"Getting past the Ferraris is going to be an almost impossible task, unless they have problems. We shall see, we'll give everything we can and at least get some points."
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff however believes the start of the race could be a good opportunity for his drivers to make up positions, thanks to the long run down to Turn 1.
"It [overtaking] is very difficult," added Wolff. "The start is the best possibility to jump them, the run down to the first turn is very long. Strategy wise I guess there is not a lot of possibilities."
