Nico Rosberg says it's obvious that his former Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton wasn't at fault for the collision with Sebastian Vettel during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The FIA is gathering today (Monday) to decide whether further action is warranted against Vettel for his contact with Hamilton at Baku, with the Formula 1 world waiting for the outcome from the sport's governing body.
Reigning World Champion Rosberg says there is no doubt that his fellow countryman is to blame.
"I'm German, I've got to be careful now," Rosberg said when asked about the incident during a visit to Goodwood's Festival of Speed at the weekend.
"It's pretty simple. I'm the guy who knows Lewis best in the whole of the racing industry, so I think I'm in the best position to judge it and for sure he didn't do that one on purpose [a brake test], definitely."
When asked by Vettel's former Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber who was to blame, he replied: "It's very easy. Sebastian [Vettel]."
Another driver who has raced both Vettel and Hamilton is Robert Kubica; the former F1 driver was also at Goodwood and gave his verdict on the clash.
"My personal opinion is that Seb overreacted, but it can happen," he told Sky Sports. "Of course, he was not happy with it after the race and maybe it's difficult to admit it, but he is intelligent enough to realise he went a bit too far.
"That's part of racing and when the battle gets spiced up it's always important to keep your nerves and be concentrated, ambitious and keep everything under control."
