Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen moved ahead during the final practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, leading a 1-2.

Räikkönen was quickest on both the Medium and Soft tyre compounds in the one-hour session, emerging on top with a 1:20.214, 0.242s quicker than team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel had a minor drama during the closing stages when he stopped in the pit lane, though Ferrari swiftly confirmed he halted as a precaution, due to a telemetry glitch.

Mercedes, after topping both Friday sessions, slipped to third and fourth, with Lewis Hamilton 0.381s off Räikkönen’s pace.

Valtteri Bottas finished further adrift in fourth spot, able to run for only the final 10 minutes of the session after a water leak was discovered in his W08, the car also having suffered from an electrical glitch on Friday evening.

Mercedes has put the power unit which completed the opening four events back into his car for the remainder of the weekend.

Red Bull again finished fifth and sixth, Max Verstappen ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, the Dutchman finishing 0.811s down on Räikkönen’s headline-grabbing effort.

Nico Hülkenberg maintained Renault’s strong one-lap form in seventh, with team-mate Jolyon Palmer languishing down the order after being blocked by Kevin Magnussen on his Soft tyre run.

Felipe Massa took eighth for Williams, leaving local drivers Carlos Sainz Jr. and Fernando Alonso to complete the top 10 for Toro Rosso and McLaren respectively.

Haas and Force India were next up, Romain Grosjean edging Magnussen, while Sergio Perez also held a slender advantage over youngster Esteban Ocon.

Daniil Kvyat collected 15th spot, in front of Marcus Ericsson, Lance Stroll, the aforementioned Palmer, Stoffel Vandoorne and Pascal Wehrlein, who suffered a large lock up into Turn 1.
