McLaren-backed youngster Nyck de Vries posted the quickest time as Formula 2’s final pre-season test drew to a conclusion in Bahrain on Friday.
Rapax driver de Vries, who has graduated from GP3, set a time of 1:40.583 to edge DAMS rival Oliver Rowland by just 0.007s, with Nobuharu Matsushita a mere 0.028s further back for ART Grand Prix.
Rowland’s DAMS team-mate, Nicholas Latifi, finished fourth, having led the way during Thursday’s running, while Ferrari protégé Antonio Fuoco was the quickest Prema driver, taking fifth.
Alexander Albon (ART) and Charles Leclerc (Prema), who contested last year’s GP3 title, were sixth and seventh respectively, while Arden’s Norman Nato and Sean Gelael took eighth and ninth.
Artem Markelov rounded out the top 10 for Russian Time, narrowly ahead of new team-mate Luca Ghiotto.
The new Formula 2 season will begin next month as a support to the Bahrain Grand Prix.
