The new Audi RS 5 DTM has completed its public debut on track with three days of testing at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy.

Audi’s new DTM car for the 2017 season was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month.

It is the third-generation RS 5 DTM and features additional details and parts compared to the car uncovered at Geneva.

The test car sported Nico Müller’s red and black Playboy livery and was driven over the three days by double DTM champion Mattias Ekström and Jamie Green.

Ekström gave the new RS 5 DTM its maiden track outing on Tuesday and completed 760 kilometres of running before Green took over on Wednesday.

The 2015 runner-up managed 682km of running at Vallelunga, before Ekström concluded the test to bring the car’s total to 2,121km altogether.

“It was important for us to drive the final car in this last pre-season development test and to make optimum use of the few test days available to us in the DTM,” said Dieter Gass, head of Audi Motorsport.

“That’s why we’re very happy to have found perfect external conditions at Vallelunga and being able to drive for three days without any issues worth mentioning.”

The new DTM season begins at the Hockenheimring from the 6-7 May, with a final test set to take place at the circuit at the beginning of April.
