Channel 5 has secured the rights to broadcast highlights of the 2017 MotoGP season in the United Kingdom.
The British broadcaster showing MotoGP means the series will remain on free-to-air TV, after ITV dropped the highlights package last year.
Dorna Sports confirmed highlights of MotoGP will be shown every Monday following the race, with a prime-time slot.
The new season begins on the 26 March at the Losail International Circuit with the Grand Prix of Qatar.
Channel 5 has added to its motorsport portfolio, currently broadcasting Formula E and the World Rally Championship in the UK.
All live coverage of the MotoGP season will be on BT Sport, following the broadcaster’s five-year deal which started in 2014.
“We are thrilled to bring viewers the very best of MotoGP and add another headline act to our motor racing portfolio with the world’s fastest motorcycle racing championship,” said Channel 5’s Mark Sharman.
“It will be a mind-blowing season – one for the books. Complementing our live coverage of Formula E and the World Rally Championship highlights, this further demonstrates our commitment to offer top class sport to our viewers.”
