McLaren Indycar driver Felix Rosenqvist will return to the 24 Hours of Daytona in the #22 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson LMP2 entrant.
Ahead of his sixth IndyCar Series season with Meyer Shank, the Swede is set for his third Daytona 24 appearance in LMP2 machinery in five years.
He will share the #22 Oreca 07 with Dan Goldburg and Paul di Resta and another driver soon-to-be-announced for the Endurance Cup races.
The race will take place on 27-28 January 2024, where they will compete for the LMP2 class victory against 11 other competitors.
“Felix Rosenqvist is a winner,” said Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO.
“He has won races across an impressive range of series through his racing career and over the past five years, has made a real name for himself in IndyCar.
“We are really excited to see Felix in the United Autosports car this January and feel very proud to partner with him in his quest for success at Daytona.”
Rosenqvist added: “I’m super excited to be back in sportscar racing.
“It’s been five years since I did a sportscar race … I used to do it a lot back in the day.
“But it’s been put on pause recently because I’ve been focussing on my IndyCar career.
“It’s something I love doing and to be racing with United Autosports is really cool.
“This team has won a lot of LMP2 races before, so they’re coming in with the expectation to do well – which matches my goals.
“I think we have a strong team with Daniel Goldburg and Paul di Resta.
“I’ve worked with Paul before, so it will be good to get back together after many years.
“I’m super pumped – can’t wait to get going at the Roar [Before the 24].”
The 32-year-old has a renowned career in single-seaters, having stood out in his Formula E seat so that he made the step to IndyCar, in which he has driven five seasons.
He made his Daytona 24 – and therefore IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – debut in 2016 with Starworks Motorsport, driving an open-top Oreca FLM09-Chevrolet with Sean Johnston, Maro Engel and Mark Kvamme.
Despite a DNF, he returned in 2018 in a Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca 07 with teammates Robin Frijns, Daniel Juncadella and Lance Stroll, finishing 11th in-class.
His sportscar appearances include his 2018 Super GT campaign, a Le Mans 24 Hours debut in 2017 with Dragonspeed’s LMP2, and a partial DTM campaign in 2016.
After one victory and six podiums in IndyCar, he will make his return to the famed North American endurance race in pursuit of victory.
The event consists of ‘Roar Before the 24’ testing, five free practice sessions, qualifying, and the race itself on 27-28 January.
