Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, has denied that there is any reliability issues surrounding the gearboxes despite two problems in the same race weekend.
“They were both different problems. We do not have a fundamental problem with the car,” Horner told Auto Bild.
Mark Webber lost his second placed starting position in Canada after incurring a five place grid drop thanks to a change of gearbox on Sunday morning.
Team-mate Sebastian Vettel suffered a similar problem, however he managed to nurse his problem until the end of the race, but the issue did stop him pushing his car to the limit resulting in a fourth placed finish ahead of Mark.
After the race though, Vettel insisted there was no reason to panic as the problems were isolated cases and simply a coincidence that both drivers suffered.
Horner stated that it’s unlikely Vettel will need to change his gearbox, despite the problems it encountered, meaning the young-German will use the same gearbox in Valencia as he did in Canada.
