Cadillacs lead two-day test at Sebring

Jordan Taylor led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Cadillac DPi-V.R chassis during the official two-day IMSA test held at Sebring International Raceway.

The Wayne Taylor Racing driver turned in a 1:49.600 effort to top the times at the end of four sessions over Thursday and Friday.

Taylor shared the car with brother Ricky and GP2 race winner Alex Lynn, who replaces the recently retired Max Angelelli as WTR's third driver for endurance events.

Having won the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, all eyes were on the Cadillacs as they took to the track with a string of balance of performance adjustments which brought them closer to the global-spec LMP2 field.

The changes included reductions in air flow and fuel capacity, with Cadillac hit the hardest out of the three DPi manufacturers.

Despite the changes, the best-placed LMP2 ORECA-Gibson finished 0.748 seconds off the pace with Stephen Simpson behind the wheel.

IMSA will use the test data to consider further changes ahead of the 12 Hours of Sebring, which takes place on March 18th.

Second quickest overall was Filipe Albuquerque in the #5 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi, just 0.051 seconds shy of Taylor's benchmark.

Third was Dane Cameron in the championship-defending #31 Cadillac, also entered by Action Express.

In GTLM, Corvette led an evenly matched field with all eight cars lapping within the same half-second window.

Jan Magnussen topped the order with a time of 1:58.525s, pipping Porsche driver Dirk Werner by 0.008 seconds. Ryan Briscoe completed the class top three in the quickest of the two Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs.

Balance of performance changes were also exacted in GTLM, with BMW taking the largest reduction in the form of a 10 kg weight break. The fastest M6, driven by Alexander Sims, placed fourth-quickest at the end of the two days.

CORE Autosport claimed the fastest lap in the 16-strong GT Daytona category, whilst Starworks Motorsport topped a small two-car entry in Prototype Challenge.
