Karun Chandhok says he attempted to talk to Fernando Alonso after the Canadian GP to discuss the incident between him, Alonso and Jenson Button.
The Spaniard was held up in the closing stages of the race as he came up behind back-marker Chandhok, costing Alonso two-seconds on that lap alone.
That allowed Button to close-up and overtake the Ferrari driver into the chicane, dropping him to third.
Ferrari chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, then criticised the slower teams after the race as a result of the incident. Chandhok though, says he attempted to talk with Alonso but failed to find him in Canada.
“The downside was the battle to get out of the way of the leaders,” Chandhok told the Telegraph. “The circuit is notoriously slippery off the racing line and it was very difficult to get out of people’s way.
“Alonso lost some time behind me which allowed Jenson Button to get a run on him. It was a shame for him, but I had no idea Jenson was behind Sebastien Buemi and him.
“I did try to find him afterwards to explain but didn’t get a chance.”
Chandhok says he will now try to talk to Alonso before next weekends race in Valencia: “[I] will speak with him at the next race.”
