Manor has recruited Swiss endurance racing stalwart Jonathan Hirschi for its 2017 World Endurance Championship campaign.

Hirschi, 31, will drive an LMP2-class ORECA 07-Gibson at all nine WEC races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The former European Le Mans Series race winner joins Simon Trummer, Tor Graves and Roberto Gonzalez in the British team's two-car lineup for the 2017 season, with pairings yet to be announced.

Hirschi has made four previous starts at Le Mans, and has competed in a variety of sportscar championships including the Blancpain GT Series, Asian Le Mans Series, and the defunct FIA GT1 World Championship.

“I’m really happy to join CEFC Manor TRS Racing for WEC this season," said Hirschi.

"After three seasons in the ELMS I am really happy to be taking part in WEC and to return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A big thank you to [team bosses] Graeme Lowdon and John Booth to trust in me this season and I will do my best to achieve my goals."

"I am impatient to drive the new LMP2 with new rules and to drive an ORECA chassis again. I can’t wait for the Prologue at Monza."

Hirschi's last LMP2 drive was with Ligier outfit Algarve Pro Racing in the 2016/17 Asian Le Mans Series.

His most recent time behind the wheel of an ORECA came in 2013, when he won the 4 Hours of Silverstone with French squad TDS Racing.

“We are very happy that Jonathan is joining the team for WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans," said Lowdon, President and Sporting Director of Manor.

"He has a lot of experience in endurance racing including multiple visits to Le Mans so it is great to add him to our driver line up."

"We have had a busy few weeks preparing for the new season but we are looking forward to the year ahead, it seems like a long time since our last race so we really can’t wait to get going again.”

Manor has two more driver announcements to make before it completes its 2017 roster. The team is running under the CEFC Manor TRS Racing banner this season, following a deal with one of China's largest energy companies.

The 2017 World Endurance Championship begins with the official pre-season test at Monza on April 1-2.
