Max Angelelli put Wayne Taylor Racing on top of the timesheets during Thursday night practice ahead of this weekend's Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway.

The 50-yer-old Italian, who is making his final professional race apperance at the 55th Rolex 24, posted a 1:37.757 time behind the wheel of the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi V.R.

Angelelli will share the car with Ricky Taylor, Jordan Taylor and Jeff Gordon during the race, which marks the opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.

It was an eventful session for the #10 car, with Gordon triggering a brief red flag period for a spin before Angelelli took over to set the fastest lap.

Second quickest during the 90 minute twilight run was Filipe Albuquerque, who brought the pole-sitting #5 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi to within 0.148 seconds of the WTR machine.

Trailing Barbosa by just over a second were the two Extreme Speed Motorsports Nissan-Onroak DPis.

Brendon Hartley's time of 1:48.943 marked the first occasion that a Nissan-Onroak chassis had breached the top three during practice for the Rolex 24.

Chasing Hartley in the sister car was team co-owner Scott Sharp, who edged out the second of the two Action Express Cadillacs in a 1-2-3-4-5 for the new DPi machinery.

Best-placed of the LMP2 runners was the Rebellion Racing ORECA 07, driven by Stéphane Sarrazin.

The Toyota LMP1 driver finished 2.241 seconds off the pace as the European-style prototypes once again struggled to match their IMSA-exclusive counterparts.

In GT Le Mans, Ford continued to lead the way as Ryan Briscoe drove the #67 car to the top of the class order.

A time of 1:44.242 gave Briscoe the fastest lap, although the chasing Porsche 911 RSR piloted by Kevin Estre finished a mere 0.042 seconds adrift. BMW expat Dirk Werner complemented Estre's run by placing the sister 911 RSR third.

17-year-old Patricio O'Ward consolidated Performance Tech Motorsports' Prototype Challenge pole award by pacing FP3, whilst Porsche factory driver Jörg Bergmeister led the 27-strong GT Daytona category in the #73 Porsche 911 GT3-R.
