Fernando Alonso has reasserted his committment to the McLaren-Honda project amid discussions about his future and whether he could replace Nico Rosberg at Mercedes next season.
The Spaniard has been the subject of much speculation after Mercedes chief Toto Wolff said Alonso couldn't be overlooked as they search for a replacement driver to partner Lewis Hamilton in 2017.
However he later added that he doesn't want to get involved in a contractual fight with rival teams, particularly as Alonso is believed to have a water-tight deal with McLaren for next year.
But Alonso insists his future is with McLaren and during a speech at McLaren's Technology Centre on Tuesday, he told staff his "only goal" is to be champion again with the British team.
"I believe in this project, I'm committed and I want to be World Champion with McLaren-Honda," he said. "That's my only goal."
It's believed Valtteri Bottas is the leading candidate to replace Rosberg at Mercedes, closely followed by Pascal Wehrlein and Carlos Sainz.
