Romain Grosjean will return to the ice in December to take part in the annual Andros Trophy event next weekend with series champions DA Racing.

The Haas F1 driver has competed in the event since 2009 and has gone on to win twice before. In his most recent outing, in 2014, the Frenchman finished on the podium.

The race takes place in Alpe d’Huez and Grosjean will compete alongside reigning Andros Trophy champion and World Rallycross podium finisher Jean-Baptiste Dubourg in a modified Renault Clio.

"The Alpe d’Huez event fits nicely into my winter schedule and it’s one of the closest races from home," said Grosjean. "It’s always nice to compete under the lights on Friday and Saturday nights. Plus, Alpe d’Huez is where I first turned a wheel in anger on ice in the Andros Trophy.

"I come back to the series for a couple of reasons. First, driving a four-wheel drive Clio Silouhette on ice is sheer pleasure. Then, it’s a great opportunity to meet again with [title contender] Jean-Baptiste Dubourg’s family and share our passion and spend unforgettable moments all together.

“The Andros Trophy is about driving pleasure and outright performance. Of course, everybody is always targeting the best possible results but I have not driven on ice for two years and it’s never easy to take on the experts.

“When I look at DA Racing, which has already won the Trophy with 'JB' Dubourg, I know I can rely on the best team in the business and will make sure to use their advice to put in a strong display."
