Robert Kubica will test an LMP1 car for the ByKolles team at the end of season FIA World Endurance Championship rookie test in Bahrain on Sunday.
Kubica, 31, raced in Formula 1 between 2006 and 2010 before sustaining severe injuries to his right hand and arm in a rally accident during the off-season, putting his single-seater career on hold.
The Pole returned to motorsport action in 2013, taking part in the World Rally Championship and winning the WRC2 title in his debut season. Kubica took part in the Rally Monte Carlo in January 2016, after which he confirmed he would not be doing any more rallying.
After taking part in a Renault Sport Trophy race at Spa earlier this year, Kubica confirmed he was looking to return to circuit racing in 2017, and will take a step towards that by testing for ByKolles in Bahrain on Sunday.
Kubica will join a number of other first-time LMP1 drivers at the rookie test including Daytona and Sebring winner Pipo Derani, LMP2 champion Gustavo Menezes and French racer Paul-Loup Chatin, who will conduct running with Toyota, Porsche and Audi respectively.
The WEC rookie test has welcomed a number of high-profile drivers running alongside those rising up the sportscar racing ranks, with 2015 seeing Juan Pablo Montoya enjoy a test with Porsche.
