Sebastien Buemi has been given a five-place grid penalty for Saturday's Formula E race in Marrakesh following a technical infringement during qualifying.
Buemi qualified second on Saturday in Marrakesh behind Mahindra's Felix Rosenqvist, but will now drop down to P7 after the stewards deemed the Swiss driver to have breached the technical regulations.
The fire extinguisher in Buemi's car was found to be under the 3.25kg minimum weight, prompting the stewards to issue a five-place grid penalty and fine the Renault e.dams team €2,500.
Buemi's penalty lifts Sam Bird onto the front row of the grid, as well as allowing Nelson Piquet Jr., Jean-Eric Vergne, Daniel Abt and Nicolas Prost all to gain a position.
Buemi won his first Formula E title at the end of season two, and kicked off his title defence with a confident victory in Hong Kong last month from fifth on the grid.
