Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso claimed his first MotoGP win in over seven years and became 2016's ninth different winner during a delayed Malaysian Grand Prix.
A heavy rain shower saw the race delayed by 20 minutes and shortened by a lap from 20 to 19, but Dovizioso would matser the conditions to outclass his rivals, with only Valentino Rossi for company during much of the race.
The thrilling victory adds to his only other MotoGP career win way back in 2009 at the British GP.
The start of the race saw Jorge Lorenzo lead from the off, but the pack was tighly bunched in the opening laps and Lorenzo quickly fell down the order to sixth as Rossi took the lead ahead of Andrea Iannone and team-mate Dovizioso.
The pair tussled over the lead as Dovizioso watched on from third.
Lap 12 saw both Cal Crutchlow and Marc Marquez taken out of the action as the former crashed out and the latter fell at Turn 11 in the difficult conditions before managing to recover, but it left just the three in the fight for the victory.
That didn't last long though and soon it was a two-way battle as Iannone fell a lap later, dropping it at Turn 9.
All it took was a small error from Rossi to allow Dovizioso to snatch the lead with five laps remaining and there he remained until the checkered flag.
