IndyCar race winner Josef Newgarden will join Team Penske for the 2017 season, replacing Juan Pablo Montoya.
Last week Ed Carpenter Racing confirmed he would not remain at the team for a third season, after scoring three victories with ECR.
Newgarden enjoyed a successful fifth full IndyCar season, finishing a career-best fourth and the highest placed non-Penske driver.
Since ECR announced his departure, speculation has picked up pace over his 2017 plans and he was linked to a Penske seat.
Now the team has revealed Newgarden will join Penske for next year, joining Simon Pagenaud, Will Power and Helio Castroneves, and will drive the No.2 car.
“For any open-wheel racer – or any racecar driver in general – Team Penske is a dream job,” he said on the team switch.
“Roger Penske is a legend in the motorsports community and his team has done just about everything they’ve ever set out to do.
“I look forward to working with all of Team Penske’s great partners. To get an opportunity to work with Simon (Pagenaud), Will (Power) and Helio (Castroneves), along with the rest of the team, will just help make me a better driver.”
