McLaren racing director Eric Boullier says he is pleased with their season so far, highlighting a number of positives throughout the opening half of 2016.
The Frenchman described recovering from Fernando Alonso's season-opening crash in Australia as their "most amazing performance" so far as the Spaniard escaped unharmed whilst the team had to get a second chassis ready for the next race in such a short timeframe.
He was also pleased with Stoffel Vandoorne's preparation to step up and race in Alonso's place.
"The most amazing performance from the team was recovering from the horrific crash Alonso had in Australia, which was a challenge with a brand new car as we had to build a new car," Boullier said in his mid-term report.
"And at the same time turning up in Bahrain, without any notice to change the drivers, to bring a rookie in who did a brilliant job as well. He was well prepared to step in and race."
As for results, Boullier hailed Alonso's fifth place in Monaco "brilliant" whilst applauding Jenson Button's third-place grid position for the Austrian Grand Prix, despite the track not suiting their car.
He also highlighted the work going on behind the scenes which has allowed the team to catch up to its midfield rivals.
"[We've achieved] nearly 95 per cent correlation level between what we can simulate, produce, manufacture, deliver at the track and race," he explained.
"We are pleased to catch up on the big teams, out-develop the big teams.
"That means the momentum is working, what we are doing is working, is delivering, and we just want to do the best job we can to keep doing this until the end of the season."
