Lewis Hamilton has escaped a penalty after he was investigated for an "unsafe release" during final practice for the German Grand Prix on Saturday morning.
The Mercedes driver was released from his garage as Haas' Romain Grosjean was driving down the pitlane. However Hamilton slowed as he joined the pitlane, causing Grosjean to brake and come to a stop to avoid a collision.
Race control confirmed the matter would be investigated after the session, with Hamilton and a team representative called to the stewards office.
It was decided that the team should be punished as they "released car 44 from the garage when it was unsafe to do so", with the stewards imposing a €10,000 fine.
Hamilton could have faced a grid penalty as not only do the rules stipulate it as one of the options for an unsafe release, but the Briton is also on his second reprimand of the season, with three resulting in a ten-place grid drop.
