Sergio Perez says he could leave Force India for next season

Sergio Perez has admitted that he could be driving for a team other than Force India in 2017.

Speaking today in Hockenheim, when asked if it was possible that he could driving elsewhere next year, Perez replied "yes".

"It's up to me and [my] group of sponsors on what to do," he said. "The decision is not only down to me, as I'm a very lucky driver to have so much support, and if we're moving around teams we take the decision together with the group of sponsors I have, and that decision has not been taken."

Perez added though that from a competitive point of view it is currently hard to judge which the best seats are outside of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.

"At the moment we [the midfield teams] are just so closely matched, last race McLaren and Toro Rosso were stronger as they seem to have a stronger car, but when we're more engine dependent we [Force India] seem to be stronger. It's just so up and down. The top three teams seem to be on another level at the moment, and then it's the rest of us."

He did say that he hoped his future would be resolved in the forthcoming four-week summer break.

"I hope I can come back after the summer break knowing what the future holds for me, that would be ideal. But you never know in this business, because my deals are not so simple [because of his sponsors]…so it takes longer than for other drivers."
